The issues of comorbidity in the public health system

ABSTRACT:
Objective: We analyzed the issue of “comorbidity” from the viewpoint of preventive medicine and public health. Results: The issues of the distinctions of holistic and nosological approaches in medicine and their peculiarities at the characteristic of combined pathology were considered in the article; the importance of the issue of comorbidity for the population health estimation on population and individual levels was shown; social-hygienic and medico-preventive aspects of the problem of comorbidity were revealed and their role in the development of preventive programs was described. Conclusions: The problem of comorbidity is of scientific and practical importance not only for clinical medicine but also for its preventive branch. Interdisciplinary interaction in the solution of this problem will allow us not only to optimize the approaches to treatment of the patients with comorbidity pathology but also to develop the system of its registration that will improve the health care system of the population.
